Many kids may have the opportunity to obtain musical instruments through their public schools, and may get some basic instruction, but they rarely get access to that next level instruction and that passion for music that private lessons typically provide.
And while there have been programs in the past designed to raise money for musical instruments, there aren't many events designed to raise money for kids who want to learn how to really play those instruments. That's where The Fairfield County Jam (FCJ) comes in.The FCJ is a High School Battle of the Bands concert aimed at raising funds for under-resourced kids wanting to take private music lessons from local community teachers.
To further this goal the FCJ is partnering with KEYS (www.keysmusic.org) a Bridgeport based 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide free music lessons and performance opportunities to under-resourced students in our local community.
By partnering with KEYS, local businesses and community organizations, the FCJ serves as a platform for showcasing local musical talent while supporting the study and performance of music in our local community.
