With a shared fondness for the sophisticated soul and pop of Smiths, New Order, and Marvin Gaye, Stars joined together nearly 20 years ago to stretch electro-pop to arena rock. Their newest album 'There Is No Love In Fluorescent Light' was recorded at Bridgeport's Tarquin Studios with producer Peter Katis, who won a GRAMMY in 2018. Peter Katis is opening this show with his band, The Philistines Jr.
“STARS formed out of the late 90s Montreal music scene, overlapping members with multiple bands including BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE. Since then they have been cranking out records that range from raucous to dancy, forlorn to celebratory. They’re also known for their dynamic “live” performances featuring dueling male and female lead vocalists. The record we made down the street from FTC last year is a great combination and culmination of all the different musical styles and production approaches the band has experimented with over the years, making for a record that sounds both familiar and like something new and exciting.” - Peter Katis
STARS has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket goes towards providing indigenous women and their children a safe and supportive environment through the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal >

“... crisscrosses the airy, Mirage-era warmth of Fleetwood Mac with Stars' own lyrical empathy -- something that's become increasingly direct in its intentions.” - Billboard
“...revived and more emotionally mature on their eighth album… There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light finds the band with their feet on the streets and their heads scraping the sky, just where they belong. Stars stretch hushed electro-pop into scrambling arena rock, blending the Smiths’ guitar romance with bedroom soul like the product of some Mancunian Motown” - Pitchfork
