Breaking out from the glut of North Carolina-based indie-folksters, Mipso has fully grown into a gentle folk-rock outfit that balances heavy heartbreak and introspection with poppy, good-times acoustic pop. It's a good spectrum for the quartet, in that it allows for a wide sonic and emotional range.
Sounds Like: A back-porch hootenanny set not in an Appalachian holler but in a city, where the songs performed draw from Bill Monroe to David Bowie with an early Avett Brothers poppy kind of feel.
